EPA Refrigerant Handling | Certification

This training is intended for adult students. High school students may be able to apply, as well.

This course is usually offered once per year. If you do not see program information posted, contact the center for details about when it will be offered next.

This 21 hour refrigerant certification course will include the areas outlined below and will prepare you to successfully pass four areas of certification. They are:

  • EPA ACT 608 Certifications for Servicing Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Systems
  • Type 1 - Servicing Small Appliances
  • Type 2 - High-Pressure Appliances
  • Type 3 - Low-Pressure Appliances

This program includes or prepares for the following credential(s): EPA Act 608 Safe Refrigerant Handling Certification.

    Grants, scholarships, and other funding sources are available. Depending on program type and student eligibility, one or more tuition assistance options may apply. For example, VSAC Advancement Grant, VDOL Adult CTE Scholarship, Curtis Fund Credential of Value Scholarship, and other forms of state assistance.
