This program is intended for high school students attending from within the district. Students from outside the district or adults who are not enrolled in high school can contact the center to apply.

Description

In this program, you’ll have the opportunity to take Anatomy and Physiology I and II (8 credits) through Vermont State University. You will also learn basic clinical assessment skills, vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, medical terminology, phlebotomy, professionalism skills, first aid and CPR, electronic health record training, and basic suturing. You will complete the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assisting (CCMA) training program and have the opportunity to sit the CCMA licensing exam. You’ll also learn about the history of medicine in the United States and develop skills to become a leader in improving access and quality of care for all patients. You’ll also explore a variety of the medical professions through job shadowing—what they are, what they do, and what training they require.
